Paper Giant Jumps into Automotive Aftermarket

Feb 19, 2016

A new off-road and enthusiast product has hit the market from a new company called Weego.

Weego is selling a tiny battery jump starter that can start nearly any engine. Promoted as the fastest, easiest and safest jump starter, the 12-volt lithium-polymer device will work with any 12V lead-acid battery. In addition to a car’s battery, the product also will charge a phone, tablet, laptop or other 12V accessories. Weego starters also come with a flashlight.

A Weego starter is about the size of an iPhone 6, but it only loses two percent of its charge per month and it’s good for up to 1,000 charging cycles. The standard model works with engines up to 4.6-liters. The heavy-duty model can jump start any gas engine up to 6.4 liters. There is also a Professional model that can start any gas engine under 9.6 liters.

The Weego team, including CEO Gerry Toscani, was at SEMA with an orange Ford Falcon station wagon answering questions and discussing how Weego can keep people moving.

Toscani said that Weego is a brand of Paris Corp., a family-owned company that has been a leader in the paper industry since 1964. He said that while business is still good, the paper industry is in a decline and Paris Corp. decided to break into the portable power industry with Weego starters in 2014.
