Automotive specialty products distributor Meyer Distributing Inc., Jasper, Ind., announced plans to add cross-docks in Binghamton, N.Y. and Worcester, Mass.
Both locations will have a direct feed from Meyer’s East Hanover, N.J., distribution hub, according to company press releases.
The Binghamton and Worcester cross-docks will improve delivery times and frequency for Meyer’s 3PL customers as well as for the automotive accessory division of the company. Cities in upstate New York such as Binghamton, Utica, Syracuse, Auburn, Ithaca and Elmira will experience increased delivery frequency, which will be shortened from two days to next-day, according to Fred Sermersheim, fleet manager of Meyer Logistics.
“Delivery frequency to the NE corner of the U.S. will increase to major metropolitan centers such as Providence, Boston, Manchester, Dover, and even as far as Bangor. The new site has already been fully integrated with our distribution system and technology framework and will take service to a new level for customers in this market,” he noted.
