Mazda Motor Corp. unveiled Mazda KOERU crossover concept at the Frankfurt Motor Show this week.

The Mazda KOERU demonstrates Mazda’s interpretation of a crossover vehicle. The vehicle features the full suite of Mazda’s SKYACTIV technologies.

The name “KOERU,” which means “exceed” or “go beyond” in Japanese, comes from Mazda’s aspiration to go beyond the existing category norms and standards, according to the company.

KOERU features Mazda’s Signature Wing, LED guiding rings, a tight canopy and a modulating body. Highlights on the front and rear fenders extend toward the large wheels.

Mazda said KOERU provides an “impressive aerodynamic performance,” achieved by a sleek body shape and optimization of the airflow over the upper body, as well as creating a turbulence-rectifying under-floor structure. These elements also enhance vehicle stability when driving at speed., according to the company.
