Racing and high-performance automotive parts company Lane Automotive provided a report on its recent cruise-in car show:
In spite of periodic squalls (just what the Farmer’s Almanac predicted) the 24th Annual Lane Automotive Car Show welcomed more than 1,000 show vehicles and well over 10,000 spectators. All scheduled events took place on schedule and everyone on the show grounds took the inclement weather in stride and resolved to have a good time.
The Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Builder Challenge was won by one of the Elkhart Area Career Center Teams, while the three other EACC teams finished in second, third and ninth place.
An even dozen nitro- and alcohol-powered drag race cars fired up at noon, making this year’s Nitro Noisefest one of the best ever. Meanwhile, the Lane Automotive Dyno Challenge was busy both Friday and Saturday, measuring the rear-wheel horsepower on stock and modified cars and trucks.
The Dyno Challenge sign-up fees and the registration fees for all the food concessioners directly benefitted the Lane Automotive Relay for Life fundraising drive. The weekend was kicked off with the Fifth Annual Open Header Cruise through downtown Coloma and Watervliet, and the Cruise Night Celebration at Lane Automotive on Friday night.
