Fisker partners with aftermarket suppliers

Nov 14, 2012

Anaheim-Calif. based Fisker Automotive, a manufacturer of luxury electric vehicles, has established new partnerships with global aftermarket suppliers 3M, Mobil 1 and Goodrich Technology to give owners more ways to maximize, personalize and protect their Karma sedans.

Fisker Automotive joined with 3M to develop and supply its Fisker Diamond Protection Film. The almost invisible paint protection film helps maintain the Karma’s design aesthetic and resale value by preventing rock chips and damage from road debris, stated a Fisker press release.

To highlight its partnership with 3M, Fisker showcased four wrap schemes for a Karma that were on display at 3M’s booth  during the 2012 SEMA Show; attendees had the opportunity to watch the Karma get dressed in a new scheme every 24 hours. A personalized Mobil 1 Fisker Karma was also on display at the DUB Arena outside the South Hall of the Las Vegas Convention Center. Both vehicles featured Fisker-designed wheels with Goodrich’s PermaStar finish.

Fisker partnered with Goodrich Technology to expand its wheel finish offerings using Goodrich’s PermaStar chroming process. Using no hazardous materials and producing no hazardous waste, Goodrich combines powder coating and vacuum metallization to produce a classic, show-quality chrome finish, the release said.

Mobil 1 0W30 Advanced Fuel Economy Synthetic Motor Oil was chosen by Fisker to power the Karma’s extended-range, two-liter gasoline engine. The low viscosity, advanced full-synthetic formula helps increase fuel efficiency up to 2%.
