The car is piloted by Kolab’s founder and CEO Ernie Manansala, along with co-driver Chong Pak. The pair had a top-three championship finish in the California rally series during Manansala’s rookie season.
Now in its fifth generation, the Impreza—and specifically the WRX and WRX STI—have made a huge impact on the performance aftermarket as the major rival to the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.
“The purpose of this project is to prove that quality product and quality engineering can outlast and prevail through some of the harshest conditions in the world of motorsports. The performance upgrades to the GC8 aim to bring a heightened sense of the emerging rally/tuner enthusiasts market, while living on the legacy of the Subaru brand,” the company noted.
The GC8 piloted by Manansala and Pak are expected to compete in eight events in 2018 in the United States, attend more than a dozen car shows and produce more than 100 units of branded media content.
