High school students from the east and west coasts competed in the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow engine challenge last weekend. East Coast students battled at the Chattanooga Cruise-In, resulting in five qualifying teams. Team Pertronix of East Ridge High School of East Ridge, Tennessee took first place with a low time of 20:33
In California, teams matched up at the MagnaFlow qualifying event in Rancho Santa Margarita, delivering three more qualifiers. First place was awarded to Team Fast – Loara High School of Anaheim (26:00).
Other teams to qualify last weekend for a chance to compete at the SEMA and PRI shows include Burton Center for Arts and Technology (Salem, Virginia), Bolton High School (Arlington, Tennessee), Sequoyah High School (Soddy Daisy, Tennessee), Jacksonville North Pulaski High School (Jacksonville, Arkansas), Katella High School (Anaheim, California), and Rancho Alamitos (Garden Grove, California).
