The World Racing Group’s DirtCar Racing Series is implementing a new spec engine program, with the help of Dart Machinery and CV Products.
The new program is designed to give racers the benefits of a spec engine-including affordability and a level playing field-without taking away business from local engine builders and speed shops, according to a press release.
To that end, DirtCar teamed up with Dart and CV Products.
The engine is based on a Dart Big M iron block, with Dart Pro 1 aluminum 325cc cylinder heads and an aluminum Dart single-plane intake manifold. Early builds of the 499-ci power-plant produced around 800 hp at 6,800 rpm and 700 foot-pounds of torque at 5,600 rpm, according to the release.
All parts are provided in an economical package, allowing more racers to participate in the series, the release stated. CV Products will then distribute the package to local builders for assembly.
