In an interview with Speed Sport News, RPM Act sponsor Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.) said the bill was on hold until the presidential election was finished. After taking a few laps in a dirt late model at the East Lincoln Speedway in Stanley, North Carolina, McHenry went into additional details regarding the bill that was drafted to protect the motorsports industry from excessive EPA regulation.
The RPM Act provides clarity to the industry and the racing community that the Clean Air Act allows motor vehicles to be converted into dedicated race vehicles, according to SEMA. The bill protects tens of thousands of jobs and racers’ ability to purchase the parts and equipment that enable them to compete. It also protects an American tradition.
