Elkhart, Ind.-based Bedslide/Takit Inc. will present a free seminar at the Hotrod & Restoration and Restyling & Truck Accessories Trade Shows that promises to make business owners think differently about their brands.

The seminar will be led by Joel Ayres, the company’s vice president of sales and marketing, and Jason Ehrlich, chief marketing officer.

The trade shows are set for March 26-28 at the Indianapolis Convention Center in Indianapolis.

“The core of the message will focus around why making your brand relevant matters,” Ehrlich said. “We will define the term ‘brand’ so that every audience member and reader will personalize our key talking points directly to their business. The principles we will discuss are universal and will apply to each and every person, whether they work for a jobber, restyler, upfitter, manufacturer, etc.”

Ehrlich, who has years of experience marketing in the consumer electronics field, would like the Bedslide seminar, titled “Happy Horse Sh!#-Fertilize Your Business with Relevancy to Increase Market Share and Drive Revenue,” to take inspiration from electronics giant Apple and apply it to the truck accessory business. That means focusing more on “outward consumer-centric brand development rather than an inward product/service focus,” he said.

“I spent 40 years in the automotive aftermarket, which of course is deeply involved in retail distribution and manufacturing,” Ayres said. “I see the need for a faster change-a revolution-in the way we brand and market. Compared to other industries, like consumer electronics, we’re a bit stagnant.”
