The 18th Colorado Nationals last weekend attracted over 1,300 vintage rods, customs and classics in Loveland, Colorado. The sun glare left its stamp on afternoon photos taken Sept. 11-13 by the crowds who enjoyed the fair weather at the sprawling Ranch Events Complex.

Hot Rod of the Year-winning shop, Pinkee’s Rod Shop, hosted a Friday (Sept. 11) kick off event in Windsor, Colorado, with hundreds of hot rods turning out. Shop owner Eric Peratt and his team also helped on Saturday to select the show’s top 10 cars for Builder’s Choice recognition.

The Ranch Events Complex also served as the starting point of the cross-country Hall of Fame Road Tour on Sunday. The annual Goodguys celebrity cruise spans Colorado to Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green, featuring prominent builders and some of the season’s most awarded vehicles.

Rodders from across the Rocky Mountain region participated in the Colorado Nationals, including three local host clubs—Road Nights of Colorado, Northern Colorado Mustang Club and the AMC Club—which helped run the gates and special parking areas.

Goodguys AutoCross also made its return after an eight-week hiatus. The Friday-Sunday timed event had racers gunning past cones for crucial series points as the season winds down. Winners included Roger “Pop a Wheelie” Burman in PRO (40.211), Richard Trujillo in Street Machine (42.004), Speedtech Performance in Truck (42.963), and BJ & Lisa Penrod in Hot Rod (46.711). Burman also garnered the coveted Duel in the Desert transfer spot.

The event also included a swap meet, a Nitro Thunderfest Nitro dragster exhibition and live music.

Goodguys will host five more events in the next two-and-a-half months including the Nostalgia Nationals at Beech Bend Raceway Park next week; the Oct. 2-4 Lone Star Nationals at Texas Motor Speedway, in Fort Worth, Texas; the Oct. 23-25 Southeastern Nationals at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina; the Nov. 14-15 Autumn Get-Together at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California; and the Nov. 20-22 Southwest Nationals at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona.
