Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

Events are taking place all over the country and Canada this weekend that allow you to show off your shop’s latest project car, honor industry legends and network with other builders, including the Goodguys’ 31st All-American Get Together and the Hot Rod Magazine Homecoming. The Megaspeed Custom Car and Truck Show takes place Friday, March 22- Sunday, March 24 at the International Centre in Toronto, Canada. The event will feature pro wrestler Bill Goldberg as the Grand Marshall, and will include appearances by Chip Foose (in the BASF booth on Saturday), Candy Clark from “American Graffiti,” Playboy model Rachelle Wilde and more. Event highlights will include display vehicles by Rad Rides by Troy, NHL star Rick Nash and Kreater Custom Motorcycles, a bikini contest, vendors and live music.  Zoo to You will be presenting a display of exotic animals for kids. The Riverside International Automotive Museum will host its annual Legends of Riverside Racing Film Festival and Gala on Saturday, March 23, plus a “Meet and Greet” on the evening of Friday, March 22 for all ticket holders. The event, which will take place at the Museum in Riverside, California, will honor racing legend Bob Bondurant. Event highlights will include a presentation of special awards, a silent auction of racing memorabilia, an autograph signing by drivers and VIPs, cocktail party, live auction, dinner and more. The 39th Annual Town Fair Tire World of Wheels Autorama takes place Friday, March 22- Sunday, March 24 at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston, Massachusetts. The event will include metal chopping demonstrations by Gene Winfield, a tattoo contest on Friday night, the Old Skool Rodz pinup girl contest on Saturday, celebrity guest appearances and more. The Hot Rod Homecoming will take place Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. The event, which will be held in honor of the magazine’s 65th birthday, will combine over 300 cover and feature cars with many of the people that have graced the pages and places of Hot Rod‘s past and present signing autographs, according to a press release from the magazine. Linda Vaughn, Courtney Hanson, Vic Edelbrock and Tommy Ivo are all scheduled to appear at the event. Other highlights will include a pinstriper’s panel jam, a ride-and-drive from Chevrolet Performance, a pin-up girl contest, live entertainment, party, autograph sessions with industry legends, and more. Cars of all kinds are invited to participate in the outside portion of the show at the historic site of the NHRA Winternationals. Editors from the magazine will select three cars from the car show entrants to do feature articles on inside the pages of Hot Rod. Goodguys will host its 31st All-American Get-Together at The Fairgrounds in Pleasanton in Pleasanton, California on Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24. The event will feature over 3,500 American-made or American-powered hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars and trucks of all years. In addition, it will feature a special indoor show featuring customs from 1936-1972. Other event highlights will include the Goodguys Autocross, vendor and manufacturer exhibits, a swap meet, cars-for-sale corral, a model and pedal car show, Goodguys Arts and Crafts Gallery, the Pinstripers Brush Bash and Silent Auction, activities for kids, and the Diablo Valley College “Rock, Rhythm and Blues Review.” Admission will be $17 for adults, $6 for kids ages 7-12 and free to those 6 and under. Both Barrels Promotions will present the Spring Thaw on Saturday, March 23 at the Calsonic Arena in Shelbyville, Tennessee. The event will include a swap meet selling new and used auto parts, the 11th Anniversary Bike Show, vendors, live music, and the “Rats in the Arena” rat rod car display. A $1,000 cash prize will be awarded to the vehicle named “Best in Show,” with $200 being awarded to the “Best Rat Car/Truck” and “Best Home Built Classic.” Admission to the event is $10. The 13th Annual Beachcruiser Meet will be held Saturday, March 23 and Sunday, March 24 on Main Street in downtown Huntington Beach, California. The event is open to all “Beachcruisin” vehicles manufactured through 1972, including station wagons, sedan deliveries, convertibles, VW Transporters, Nomads, Woodies, Chevelles and more.
