Elegant cruisers, pristine antiques and suped-up rods take center stage at a number of events being held across the country this weekend, including the Woodward Dream Cruise, Goodguys’ 11th Great Northwest Nationals and the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. California Car Cover hosts the second in its series of Summer Cruise Nights Wednesday in Chatsworth, California. The cruise is open to all makes and models of classic cars, muscle cars and hot rods. The Woodward Dream Cruise runs Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the cities of Berkley, Bloomsfield Township, Ferndale, Pontiac and Royal Oak, Michigan. The event will attract nearly 40,000 classic cars from around the world, according to organizers. Each city will be hosting car parades, car shows, family activities and live entertainment along Woodward Ave. during the course of the weekend. Goodguys presents the 11th Great Northwest Nationals Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center in Spokane, Washington. The event will feature over 1,500 rods, customs, muscle cars and street machines through 1972 competing for awards including the 2012 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist and Goodguys Pick. It will also include vendor and manufacturer exhibits, a swap meet, a car-for-sale corral, a model and pedal car show, and live entertainment. A hot rod cruise will be held Thursday. The Kustom Kemps of America Gorilla Stomp takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Pfiffner Pioneer Park in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. The event is open to all 1964-and-older American-made kustoms, hot rods, dragsters and restored/mint vehicles. Contemporary-styled kustoms and modified muscle cars from 1965 or later are also welcome. Finned Mopars from the 1950s and 1960s will be honored throughout the weekend and eligible for a special award. There will be cruises, drag racing and car shows throughout the weekend. “Long Island Cars” Collectible & Custom Car Show and Swap Meet takes place Friday and Saturday at the Belmont Racetrack in Elmont, New York. The show will feature a wide range of custom and collectible show cars competing in over 40 classes for first- through sixth-place trophies. The show will also include vendors, a swap meet and a car corral. “Long Island Cars” shows will be held at the Flowerfield Fairground in September and October, the MacArthur Airport in October, and the Belmont Racetrack in November. The Greenwood Lake Air Show, WWII Showcase & Car Show takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Greenwood Lake Airport in West Milford, New Jersey.
