Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

This weekend, a number of organizations, car clubs and businesses around the country are hosting car shows and events that give retailers the opportunity to show off their latest builds, find new projects, connect with new customers and support community organizations. KOI and Federated Auto Parts present the Cavalcade of Customs this Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Duke Energy Center in Cincinnati. The event features hundreds of custom cars, trucks and motorcycles on display, as well as training workshops, a charity auction and activities. Celebrities making appearances at the show include Henry Winkler, Dennis “Lil Daddy” Roth, and stars of “American Pickers,” “Billy the Exterminator” and “Two Guys Garage.” Over $14,000 in cash and merchandise will be given away to vehicles competing in 25 classes. The second annual Chillin’ on the River classic car show and auto parts swap meet takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Riverside Resort & Casino in Laughlin, Nevada. The show is open to all years, makes and models of street rods, muscle cars, trucks, specialty vehicles, 4x4s and motorcycles, which will be competing for 27 participant awards. The event will also include a vehicles-for-sale car corral, open header contest, creeper races, raffles, auctions, ladies poker walk/tea party indoors, poker run, trivia, door prizes, 50/50 and a DJ. The 17th annual Ft. Lauderdale Beach Collector Car Auction takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the War Memorial Auditorium in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. The auction will feature 300 vehicles, including a 1932 Cadillac Imperial limousine owned by Al Capone, a 1936 Ford Phaeton, a 1937 Woody wagon, a 1946 Hudson Big Boy pickup, a 1948 Chrysler Town & Country convertible, a 1957 Studebaker Supercharged Hawk and a 1962 Chevy Corvette roadster. The 24th Annual Burger Run, called the “Biggest Little Car Show in San Diego County” by show organizers, takes place Saturday at the Pepper Tree Frosty in Vista, California. The Saratoga Automobile Museum is presenting the “How to Build the Best Pinewood Derby Car Ever” workshop Saturday in Saratoga Springs, New York. The workshop will give scouts competing in upcoming pinewood derby events the opportunity to test out their creations on a track and their skills in racing simulators. Attendees can also gather inspiration from the vehicles on display at the museum, including those highlighted in the current Right Coast Rods exhibit. The Southern Exotic Car Club is hosting its 2011 Winter Charity Exotic Car Rally, the “Rally to Fight Cancer,” Saturday in Mobile, Alabama. A rain day of Saturday, January 15 has been set.  All proceeds from the rally will be donated to 17-year-old cancer patient Chris Alford and his family. Cruzin South magazine presents the Winter Wheels Indoor Car and Bike Show Saturday in Southaven, Mississippi. Cars and bikes will compete for Top Five awards. The event will feature drag cars and sprint cars on display, as well as an appearance by The Tailgator from Monster Nation. Winter Wheels will also include live music, prizes and giveaways. The Ed Morse Sawgrass Auto Mall and Renegade Corvette Club host the 5th Annual Open Car & Truck show Sunday in Sunrise, Florida. All varieties of Corvettes, cars and trucks will be displayed at the event, and will compete for 30 Corvette awards and 40 car and truck awards. The Super Sunday Indy all-make-and-model swap meet and car sale takes place Sunday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis. The event will feature vendors in over 700 indoor spaces selling new old stock, used and reproduction parts, tools, collectibles, memorabilia and apparel.
