Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

Spend the weekend soaking up the sun at an outdoor car show where you can display your latest projects, connect with new customers and support worthy local charities. Events being held this weekend include the Carlisle Ford Nationals and Goodguys 19th Summer Get-Together. Information on these and nine addition shows is below. The Carlisle Ford Nationals takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Carlisle Fairgrounds in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. The event will feature over 2,200 Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles on display on the fairgrounds’ NPD showfield, as well as special vehicle displays, test drives, a burnout competition, NHRA drag racing, autocross and club gatherings. The 2012 Chevy High Performance Nationals takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Atlanta Dragway in Commerce, Georgia. The event will feature a car show, drag racing, autocross, a swap meet and vendors. Awards will be presented on Sunday. For more information, visit www.chpnationals.com.

The NSRA hosts the Street Rod Nationals East Plus Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the York Expo Center in York, Pennsylvania. The event will showcase vehicles from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s, and will feature manufacturer displays, a vintage car parts swap meet, vendors, and arts and crafts. The San Luis Obispo Concours d’Elegance takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in the Meadows at the Madonna Inn in San Luis Obispo, California. The event kicks off Friday night with a VIP cocktail party. Saturday features a drive-and-ride, champagne brunch, and dinner and auction. The 2012 Heartland Rod Run takes place Friday and Saturday in Brownwood/Early, Texas. The event kicks off Friday night with a poker run to benefit local charities. Saturday features a car show, burnout contest and cruise. Cash awards will be presented for Best of Show, Best GM, Best Ford, Best Mopar and Best Import. Over 70 trophies will also be presented. Goodguys 19th Summer Get-Together takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Alameda County Fairgrounds in Pleasanton, California. The event will feature over 3,000 all-American or American-powered rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, street machines and trucks competing for awards including 2012 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist and Rockcliff Rockstar Award. The event will also include a swap meet, Cars 4 Sale Corral, vendors, autocross, a model and pedal car show, valve cover races, a pinstripers’ brush bash and auction, and special vehicle displays. The 27th Annual Huntington Beach Concours d’Elegance takes place Saturday and Sunday at Huntington Beach Central Park in Huntington Beach, California. Saturday will feature pre-1975 cars and motorcycles, and trophies and awards will be presented by popular vote. Sunday will showcase concours, classic, Chrysler and Fiat automobiles, and Honda and KTM motorcycles. Proceeds will benefit the Children’s Resource Center at the Huntington Beach Library. The Friends of Steve McQueen Car Show takes place Saturday at Boys Republic in Chino Hills, California. The event will feature cars, motorcycles and off-road vehicles competing for awards including Bullitt Trophy for best Mustang, Getaway Trophy for best unrestored truck, and the Cool Style Perpetual Trophy for the vehicle that best evokes McQueen’s style and passion for automobiles. The theme for this year’s show is the movie “Bullitt” and a celebratory “Bullitt” dinner will take place Friday, featuring guest speakers from the movie. Proceeds will benefit Boys Republic. The Parma Animal Shelter hosts a classic car show Sunday in Parma, Ohio. The event, which benefits the shelter, is open to vehicles through model year 1990. Awards will be presented in the following classes: Pre WWII, 1946-1954, 1955-1960, 1961-1965, 1966-1970, 1971-1980 and 1981-1990. Best of Show and Peoples Choice awards will also be presented. The Shelby American Automobile Club – Motor City Region is presenting its 37th Annual Show & Go Sunday and Monday in Dearborn and Waterford, Michigan.
