Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

Car shows and events are being held this weekend that offer shops the chance to display their latest projects, compete for awards, connect with new customers and support local charities, including World of Wheels events in Indianapolis and Kansas City. World of Wheels Indianapolis takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The event will feature hot rods, customs and trucks competing for over $20,000 in cash and awards. The event will also include a custom bike show, special vehicle displays, live entertainment, an Artist Alley, a pinstripe charity auction and Meguiar’s Car Care Tips. World of Wheels Kansas City takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Bartle Hall in Kansas City, Missouri. The event will feature hot rods, customs, trucks and motorcycles competing for cash awards in categories including Best Restored, Best Custom, Outstanding Sports/Sports Compact and Outstanding Street Rod. The event will also feature special vehicle displays, Meguiar’s Car Care Tips, the Kansas City Pinstripers Dream Factory Art Auction & Jam, live music and BMX Extreme Freestyle exhibitions. ‘Vettes at Sebring 2012 takes place Friday and Saturday at the Kenilworth Lodge in Sebring, Florida. The two-day professionally judged Corvette show and pool party will feature awards presentations, a barbecue dinner, vendors, concessions, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. The 34th Annual Corvette/Chevy Expo takes place Saturday and Sunday at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. The show, billed as the largest Corvette and Chevy event in Texas, will feature vehicle displays, a swap meet, vendors and trophy presentations. The Hot Rodding for Heroes Classic Auto Tour and Show takes place Saturday in Gainesville, Florida. The tour will feature a 30-mile drive from Santa Fe College through Alachua County and Gainesville and ending at the Haile Plantation Village Center. The show will take place at the Haile Plantation Village Center on the Haile Plantation Golf and Country Club, and will feature vendors, a child’s area, an R/C race track and live music. A charity golf tournament and event sponsors awards presentation dinner take place Friday. The 10th Annual Dr. George Car Show takes place Saturday at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, California. The event is open to all street rods, classics, muscle cars, special interest cars, trucks and motorcycles. Awards will be presented. The rain-or-shine event will feature vendors, concessions, a raffle, a 50/50 drawing and entertainment. Proceeds will benefit the Desert Cancer Foundation. For more information, click here.

The Don Garlits 80th birthday “Rat Roast” fundraiser takes place Saturday at the Sheraton Fairplex in Pomona, California. Held in conjunction with the 52nd Annual O’Reilly Auto Part NHRA Winternationals, the fundraiser will feature drag racing legends including Art Chrisman, Sid Waterman, “TV” Tommy Ivo, Ed Pink, Don “The Snake” Prudhomme, Carl Schiefer and Dave McClelland roasting Garlits and sharing stories. Proceeds will benefit the Quarter Mile Foundation, whose mission is to collect and archive the history of the sport of drag racing and related aspects of the high performance aftermarket. Muscle Car Mania takes place Sunday in La Jolla, California. The event will showcase all-American street kings, pony cars, Camaros, Firebirds, Barracudas, Mopars, Impalas and Chevelles. Entrant’s Awards will be presented and the Best of Show winner will receive an original framed art print of the winning vehicle. A portion of registration fees will be donated to support the San Diego Police Officers’ Widows & Orphans Fund. For more information, click here.

The 19th Annual Sweetheart All Chevy Show takes place Sunday at Chapman Chevrolet in Tempe, Arizona. The show is open to Chevys, Corvettes and Chevy-powered vehicles.
