This weekend, rodders from around the country will descend on Louisville, Kentucky, for the 42nd Annual Street Rod Nationals Plus. The 42nd Annual Street Rod Nationals Plus runs Thursday through Sunday at the Kentucky Exposition Center in Louisville, Kentucky. Produced by the National Street Rod Association, the event will attract more than 11,000 vintage autos from across the country, including pre-1949 street rods and classics from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. The 2011 GM Powertrain St. Catharines Open House and Car Show takes place Friday in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The event includes a plant tour and show-and-shine. Last year, over 500 GM-powered vehicles registered to compete for trophies at the show, which also features vendors, promotions and barbecue. The 3rd Annual CAM Car Cruise takes place Saturday in Sacramento, California. The cruise will begin at the California State University Sacramento campus and will conclude with a car show covering several blocks. All vehicles of interest, including motorcycle and vintage trailers, are welcome, according to event organizers. Awards will be presented. The Shelby American Collection hosts its 15th annual party Saturday in Boulder, Colorado. The theme of this year’s party is the Cobra – Ferrari Wars, the epic battle of wills between Carroll Shelby and Enzo Ferrari that culminated in Shelby American winning the 1965 World Sportscar Manufacturers Championship, which will be marked with a special display of Cobras and Ferraris from that era. Also on display will be additional Cobras, Shelby Mustangs and Ford GT40s. The event will also feature a vintage car show, silent auction, autograph sessions with Shelby American Team members, barbecue, an open bar and live music. Wheels for a Cause 2011 takes place Saturday at the Texas Roadhouse in Joliet, Illinois. Trophies will be presented in categories including for Best of Show – Car; Best of Show – Bike; and Michelle’s Choice – Car, Bike, Truck, Top Ten. The event will also feature raffles, door prizes, music and food. A rain date has been set for Sunday. Proceeds will benefit the American Brain Tumor Association. The Starlight Casino hosts the 2011 Galaxie Club Classic & Exotic Car Show Sunday in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada. The show is open to North American and European vehicles, and will feature pinstriping and airbrushing displays, concessions, and an appearance by the Reign Valley Vixen Roller Derby Team. The third judged LeMay Collector Car Showcase takes place Sunday in Fife, Washington. This is the only time the show will be held at the LeMay Museum’s Fife headquarters before moving to the museum’s new grass show field in 2012. The 10th Annual Shelby/Cobra/Mustang/T-Bird Show takes place Sunday at the Volo Auto Museum in Volo, Illinois. The event will feature displays of famous Ford vehicles, including the Shelby Mustang “Eleanor” from “Gone in 60 Seconds.” The event will feature an awards presentation, as well as live music, concessions and a beer garden. The Little Indians Chapter of the Pontiac-Oakland Club International presents the Pontiac Tempest 50th Anniversary Celebration Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. The event will celebrate the introduction of the 1961 Pontiac Tempest and the 1961-1963 Tempest and LeMans with a car show, swap meet, time trials and barbecue picnic. The Vista Village Business Association presents the 22nd Annual Rod Run Sunday in Vista, California. The event is expected to attract more than 300 classic cars, muscle cars, hot rods and specialty cars, according to organizers.
