Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

Spring is officially here, the days are longer and the weather is finally warming up. It’s the perfect time for you and your customers to attend local car shows, cruises and other events, which will give you the opportunity to show off your latest builds, connect with old and new customers, and support community organizations. World of Wheels visits the Winnipeg Convention Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event will welcome some of the region’s finest hot rods, customs and motorcycles competing for over $16,000 in cash awards in 15 classes. The event will also feature a vintage race car display, a special motorcycle section, the Club Challenge and the debut of Kenny Lang’s 1969 pro-mod Camaro. The NorthEast Rod & Custom Car Show takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, Pennsylvania. The event will showcase custom cars, muscle cars, show cars, street rods, classics, trucks, import tuners and custom cycles, as well as vendors and special guests. The Ohio Technical College will hosts its Fuel Your Future Tour, featuring a live airbrush demonstration and practice paint stations, and the OTC-Edelbrock Carburetor Challenge, pitting high school teams against each other as they battle to tear down and rebuild and Edelbrock carburetor in the fastest time. The fifth annual Early Bird Showtakes place Friday and Saturday at CityPark in Kilgore, Texas. Hosted by the Lone Star Lug Nut car club, the rain-or-shine event benefits the Percy R. Johnson Burn Foundation Youth Camp, “I’m Still Me.” Top 25 awards will be presented, as well as awards for Best of Show, Sponsor Choice, Club Choice, Ladies Choice, Percy Johnson Choice, Best Rat Rod and Best Unfinished. The event will also feature vendors, door prizes, a 50/50 drawing, a wipe-out board, music and food. Vehicle check-in takes place during the Whataburger Cruise Friday night. Goodguys is hosting the 29th All American Get-Together Saturday and Sunday in Pleasanton, California. The event will feature over 3,000 all-American or American-powered rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, street machines and trucks competing for awards including the Gazette Pick and the 2011 West Coast Custom of the Year. The event will also include vendors, exhibitors, a swap meet, a cars-for-sale corral, a model and pedal car show, an arts and crafts show, a kids’ play area, and a pinstripers’ bash and auction. A special indoor display area will be set up for 1936-1964 custom cars. A 325-horsepower 1969 Chevelle SS396 will be given away at the show. The Cruzin’ Camaro Sports Club hosts a  Show & Shine Car Show Saturday at Don’s Seafood and Cabela’s parking lots in Gonzales, Louisiana. First, second and third place trophies will be awarded at the show in hot rod, classic car and bike categories. The event benefits the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The Firefighter Car Show takes place Saturday at the Twin Hills Civic Association. Presented by the Jacksonville Firefighters, the event will benefit the Children’s Burn Survivor Camp. The 10thAnnual Wheelin’ & Healin’ Charity Car Show takes place Saturday at Lake Willastein in Maumelle, Arkansas. Sponsored by the Arkansas Pontiac Association, the event benefits the Arkansas Children’s Hospital. First, second and third place prizes will be awarded in eight classes. Awards will also be presented in “Best of” categories and special awards will be presented for Club Participation, Long Distance and Ladies Choice.
