Car shows, cruises, autocross and other events are taking place around the country this weekend that give retailers the opportunity to show off their latest builds, connect with new customers, and support local schools and community organizations. Goodguys’ 2nd Spring Nationals takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Westworld of Scottsdale in Scottsdale, Arizona. During the three days, attendees can shop hundreds of vendors, browse the swap meet and Cars 4 Sale Corral, check out the model and pedal car display, and enter Goodguys Choice Products giveaways. Friday will feature the Goodguys Autocross, while Saturday will include the Autocross and special parking areas, and Sunday will include the Winners’ Circle and awards presentation. World of Wheels comes to the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines, Iowa, this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event will feature some of the nation’s finest hot rods, customs and motorcycles competing for over $20,000 in cash and awards in 24 classes. World of Wheels will also include displays of vintage race cars, traditional rods and customs, hot rods, including Goodguys’ Hot Rod of the Year “Downtown Brown,” and motorcycles. The event also features Meguiar’s Car Care Tips demonstrations, special guest appearances and the opportunity for attendees to take a ride in the Knoxville Nationals Spring Car Simulator. The Performance World Custom Car & Truck Show takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the International Center in Toronto, Canada. Awards will be presented for displays, clubs, classes and best-of categories. The event will also feature special guest appearances and giveaways. The Carolina Collector Auto Fest takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the state fairgrounds in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event will feature 150 vendors and 50 car corral cars, with club cars on display Friday and car shows Saturday and Sunday. Saturday’s show is open to 1900-1973 vehicles and awards will be presented to the Top 50, Best Ford, Best Chevy, Best Non-Chevy GM, Best Mopar and Best in Show in the afternoon. Sunday’s show is open to all vehicles from 1900-2010 and awards will be presented to the Top 15 Classic Cars (1900-1973), Top 15 Late-Model Cars (1974-up), Top 5 Import Vehicles, Top 5 Trucks, Top 5 Motorcycles Top 5 Rat Rods and Best Ofs in the afternoon. The Temecula Rod Run takes place Friday and Saturday in Temecula, California. The event kicks off Friday evening with a nighttime cruise through Old Town Front Street that is expected to attract over 500 pre-1970 vehicles and thousands of enthusiasts. Sunnyside High School is hosting its annual Show & Shine Car Show Fundraiser Saturday on the Sunnyside, Washington, campus’ Clem Senn Football Field. Trophies custom-made by the SHS metal shop classes will be presented in 20 categories for student and adult entries. The event will also feature raffles, a 50/50 cash drawing, music, T-shirt sales and food concessions. All funds and donations collected at the event will go toward SHS’ graduation party. The 7th Annual Highland Avenue Auto Show takes place Saturday at Alta Loma High School in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The event features a show-and-shine car show open to pre-1973 vehicles, exhibitors, food, raffles, kids’ fun zone, music, test drive zone and new vehicle display. Indian River State College will host the 8th Annual River Classic Car Show Sunday in Fort Pierce, Florida. Car enthusiasts can enter cars and trucks for competition in 32 categories including classic, muscle cars, ladies ride, low riders, trucks and the newest green cars category. The event will also include a Sound Challenge from 12 noon to 3 p.m. All proceeds from the event go towards funding IRSC Automotive Technology scholarships.
