Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

Car shows, swap meets and other events are taking place around the country this weekend, giving retailers the opportunity to show off their latest builds, connect with new customers, meet industry legends and support local charities. The Detroit Autorama takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Cobo Center in Detroit. The event will feature hot rods, customs and motorcycles competing for over $60,000 in cash, merchandise and awards in 23 classes. The event will also feature a special truck exhibit, Meguiar’s Car Care Tips seminars, the Motor City Mavens auto art panel and charity auction, live music, special appearances from guests including Pete Chapouris, and demonstrations. World of Wheels visits the River Centre in St. Paul, Minnesota, Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The event will feature some of America’s finest show cars competing for over $17,000 in cash, merchandise and trophies in 22 classes. The event will also include vintage race cars, traditional rods, customs and bobbers on display, as well as Meguiar’s Car Care Tips seminars and special guest appearances. Friday is Student Day and a panel of experts will discuss industry trends and offer tips on securing education and careers with local high school and technical school students in the morning. The 32nd Annual Elvis Presley Continentals Festival and Car Show takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Ramada Orlando Celebration Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. The car show takes place Sunday, with awards presentation at 2 p.m. Friday features the Elvis Presley Continentals’ awards ceremony, open mic and dancing. Saturday and Sunday feature Elvis memorabilia and special guest appearances. A dinner show takes place Saturday night and the Elvis Gospel Hour takes place Sunday morning. The 45th Annual Big 3 Auto Parts Exchange takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The 5th Annual Boca Raton Concours d’Elegance takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Boca Raton Resort & Club in Boca Raton, Florida. The event kicks off Friday evening with the duPont Registry Live, a party that will revolve around the centennial of the Indianapolis 500 and will feature an exhibit of Indy cars and racing memorabilia, as well as a display of exotic cars, custom motorcycles, boats, private jets, vintage aircraft and luxury motorcoaches. Saturday night is the Concours Gala Dinner, Auction & Jay Leno Show, which will include the presentation of the Automotive Lifetime Achievement Award to H. Wayne Huizenga, founder of AutoNation, and The Lee Iacocca Award to Jay Leno for his dedication to the preservation of classic cars. The 8th Annual Chandler Classic Car & Hot Rod Show takes place Saturday at Country Clipper Barbershop in Chandler, Arizona. This event will feature 250 classic cars and sponsor the youth-based organization ICAN. The organization provides over nine nationally recognized programs proven effective to develop the core social competencies among youth that prevent substance abuse, gang violence, and juvenile delinquency. The Desert Classic Concours d’Elegance takes place Sunday in La Quinta, California, and will be highlighting “100 Years of Indy Cars,” marking the 100th anniversary of the Indianapolis 500. In addition, an auction of 75 finely restored automobiles will run simultaneously with the Concours on the Mountain Golf Course at the La Quinta Resort & Club.
