Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum Hosting Axes & Axles Interactive Workshop in January

Dec 3, 2010

The Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum and WyoTech are presenting an educational workshop on Jan. 28, 2011 on cars and guitars in conjunction with the museum’s newest exhibit, “Axes & Axles: The Art of Building Cars and Guitars, Celebrating the 60th Anniversary of the Fender Telecaster” featuring guitar builders, car builders for the stars, musicians and artists.

From the colors used to paint a hot rod to the sleek curves of a guitar, there are numerous similarities between cars and guitars. Learn about these unique associations from the designers themselves, including Jimmy Shine of SO-CAL Speed Shop and Roy Brizio, who has built cars for guitar greats Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck, and have the opportunity to see this art in action. Live demonstrations will be provided by master guitar builders and custom car builders.

Two sessions will be presented on Jan. 28 at the Pomona, California, museum. A $20 per-session fee will cover admission to the museum and light refreshments.
