Top Builders Participate in Charity Pinewood Drag Races

Aug 4, 2011

Many of the industry’s top builders used their talents to build cars for the annual SEMA Cares Pinewood Drag Races, held July 29 in Long Beach, California, in conjunction with the annual SEMA Installation Banquet & Gala Fundraiser.

Sponsored by eBay Motors, the Pinewood Drag Races featured four race classes, with all proceeds from the race benefiting the Victory Junction Gang Camp and Childhelp USA children’s charities.

The annual Builder’s Race was perhaps the most-anticipated race of the event.

Derek White of Street Vizions took home first prize with a time of 2.939 seconds.

Coming in second was the car designed by Rich Evans of Rich Evans Designs, which came in at 2.985 seconds.

Some of the other noted builders that participated included Art Morrison of Art Morrison Enterprises, Troy Ladd of Hollywood Hot Rods, Mike Spitzer of Spitzer Concepts, Mike Cooper of Spanky’s Hot Rods & Customs, Brent VanDervort of Fatman Fabrications, John Martin of Johnny’s Auto Trim, Keith Kaucher of Kaucher Kustoms and Adam Howard of No Joke Upholstery.
