Yokohama Tire Corp. (YTC), a Fullerton, Calif.-based tire maker, is offering new Major League Baseball promotions with the Cincinnati Reds, New York Yankees, and Los Angeles Angels, according to Alan Holtschneider, the company’s manager of advertising, promotions and events.
“These are three strong teams in great markets for us,” said Fred Koplin, Yokohama director of marketing communications. “The Yankees are 27-time World Champions, the Angels are a perennial powerhouse, and the Reds won their division last season. The sponsorships, branding and promotions are designed to build awareness of Yokohama tire and drive consumer traffic to our local dealers.”
This is the first Yokohama has partnered with the Reds, the second year with the Yankees and the fourth year with the Angels.
The Reds’ “Home Team Pride” promotion provides consumers with a free, official team replica.
The consumer sweepstakes promotion with the New York Yankees offers a winner and three guests the chance to watch the 27-time World Champions during batting practice, watch a game from “MVP” seats; and receive a limited-edition team gift bag, according to Holtschneider.
Yokohama’s agreement with the Reds includes signage behind first base; spots on the Reds Radio Network throughout the season; in-stadium displays and in-game announcements on the public address system and LED scoreboard.
YTC’s New York Yankees sponsorship includes signage on the bleacher wall in left field at Yankee Stadium.
Yokohama will also have home plate rotational signage at Angel games, as well as in-game promotions, including “Fan-of-the-Game” giveaways and a “Fan Fest” booth.
