Communities, businesses, car clubs and local organizations are hosting car shows and cruises around the country this weekend. Here’s information on 10 events you can attend to show off your latest projects, meet with potential customers and support worthy causes. The Oregon Trucking Associations’ Technology & Maintenance Council is hosting a cruise-in and barbecue Thursday in Ridgefield, Washington.  This event gives attendees a chance to show off their personal projects, bikes, hot rods and much more. Chris Leith Performance Car & Truck Division is hosting a Hot August Night Cruise-In Friday in Wake Forest – Raleigh, North Carolina. The event will feature a meet-and-greet with Steve Saleen, founder of Saleen Inc., as well as a collection of classic cars and the Chris Leith Monster Truck on display, music and food. The 9th Blue Suede Cruise takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. The Goodguys‘ event will feature thousands of rods, customs, classics and race cars through model year 1972. Activities will include nostalgia drag racing, show-and-shines, swap meets, a Cars 4 Sale Corral and nightly parties. Ford F-100 Elite of Northern California and Pickups Limited of Southern California are presenting the 40th Annual North-South F-100 Run, taking place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in San Luis Obispo, California. The event highlights the 1953-1956 Ford F-100 pickups and panels. There will be a “Mystery Cruise” on Friday morning, “Hot El Camino Night” cruise on Friday Night and a show-and-shine Saturday. Carolina Classics at the Capital takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Raleigh, North Carolina. The event will feature more than 800 classic cars and trucks lining Fayetteville St. An additional 80 show cars and up to 100 vendors will be on display in the new Raleigh Convention Center. The 16th Annual Woodward Dream Cruise takes place Saturday in Southeast Michigan, with related events taking place in participating communities throughout the week. The Woodward Dream Cruise is the world’s largest one-day celebration of classic car culture that attracts over 1 million visitors, and more than 40,000 muscle cars, street rods, custom, collector and special interest vehicles, according to event organizers. The Dream Cruise takes place along a 16-mile stretch of the legendary Woodward Avenue through eight host communities including Berkley, Bloomfield Hills, Bloomfield Township, Ferndale, Huntington Woods, Pleasant Ridge, Pontiac and Royal Oak, in Southeast Michigan. There are no fees to drive in the Woodward Dream Cruise or to watch the cruise. More than 100 local charities will benefit from the sale of official merchandise and refreshments. The second annual American Pride benefit car show takes place Saturday at the Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital in Hines, Illinois. The car show, which benefits Chicagoland area veterans, will feature a pig roast, food, door prizes and a 50/50 drawing. There’s a $20 entry fee and registration for the car show opens at 10. The Northern Knights Car Club Inc. hosts its seventh annual Cool Northern Nights on the Coast benefit car show Saturday in Crescent City, California. The event is open to all cars, trucks and motorcycles, and trophies will be presented. The show will also feature raffle prizes, a 50/50 drawing, entertainment, oldies music, and food and music vendors. The Santa Barbara Woodie Club is hosting its 10th annual Woodies at the Beach car show Saturday in Santa Barbara, California. The event will feature raffle prizes, a silent auction and food. There’s no entrance charge for Woodie wagons and a special exhibition area will be set up for non-Woodie beach cruisers. The Ashland Lions Club will host the MetroWest Car Show Sunday in Ashland, Massachusetts. Awards will be presented in muscle, antique, street rod, custom, sports car, fan favorite and other classes. Music, games and other activities will take place throughout the day, and food and drink will be available. Dash plaques will be given to the first 150 registrants. Proceeds will benefit Lions’ charities, including the Massachusetts Lions Eye Research fund, scholarships, food pantries, and youth baseball, softball and soccer leagues.
