The Petersen Automotive Museum is celebrating the opening of its newest exhibit, NHRA: Sixty Years of Thunder, by hosting “An Evening With Don ‘The Snake’ Prudhomme” during its annual Tribute Night on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
The special event will include a Match Race Madness Panel Discussion that will place drag racing’s greatest rivalry on the same stage: Snake versus Mongoose.
Prudhomme with be joined by Tom “The Mongoose” McEwen to tell stories of their much-publicized grudge matches, their “Wildlife Racing” partnership and their work with Mattel’s Hot Wheels.
At 5:30 p.m., an evening celebration will take place that will include a short film about The Snake’s history and several other drag racing icons are scheduled to share their stories about “The Snake.”
Special guest scheduled to attend include Prudhomme, McEwen, Roland Leong, Tommy Ivo and Carroll Shelby. Dave McClelland, who is known as the Voice of the NHRAand a longtime friend of Prudhomme, will act as the master of ceremonies.
The event will also feature a live auction of racing memorabilia, with all proceeds going to the Petersen’s educational programs.
Guest will also be able to preview the items that will be in the Bonham’s and Butterfield’s Motorcycles and Memorabilia auction to be held on Nov. 13, according to the Petersen Museum’s website.
Tickets for “An Evening With Don ‘The Snake’ Prudhomme” are $125 each, and tickets for the Match Race Madness panel discussion are $50. A combined ticket for both events is $150. Special pricing is available for certain levels of Petersen Automotive Museum membership.
