Thanksgiving Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

After the dishes have dried and the leftovers have been stored away, take your coolest projects, and your nearest and dearest, to a car show this long holiday weekend. Events being held include Goodguys 2nd Fall Del Mar Nationals and the 53rd O’Reilly Auto Parts Autorama. Information on these and four additional shows is listed below.

The 39th Annual Daytona Turkey Run takes place Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Daytona International Speedway in Daytona Beach, Florida. The event will feature street rods, customs, 1979-and-earlier antiques and muscle cars, Mustangs, Corvettes, Camaros, Prowlers, Vipers, Chargers, Challengers, and foreign and domestic exotics. Goodguys presents the 2nd Fall Del Mar Nationals Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in Del Mar, California. The final event of Good guys 2012 season will feature over 1,500 hot rods, customs and classics through 1972 competing for awards including the 2013 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist and 2013 Truck of the Year Early Finalist. The show will also include the Goodguys AutoCross, Goodguys Nitro Thunderfest, special vehicle displays, a model and pedal car show, vendor and manufacturer exhibits, a swap meet, and the Auto Trader Classics Cars 4 Sale Corral. The 53rd O’Reilly Auto Parts Autorama takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston. Over $45,000 in cash and awards will be presented at the event in classes including Best Rod, Best Restored, Outstanding Custom and Outstanding Truck. The Millwinders Award will be presented to an outstanding entry shown for the first time at the Houston Autorama. The 16th Annual Rocky Mountain Auto Show takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Colorado Convention Center in Denver. The event will feature more than 500 cars, trucks and motorcycles competing for awards including the Crème de la Chrome Award. The event will also feature an automotive art show and vendors. The Bo Huff Rockabilly Extravaganza takes place Saturday at the Riverside Airport in Riverside, California. The New York AutoFest Hurricane Sandy Benefit Car Show takes place Sunday at Grill 454 in Commack, New York. The event will feature live music. All proceeds will benefit Hurricane Sandy Long Island Disaster Relief, a campaign of Newsday Charities, a fund of the Robert R. McCormick Foundation.
