The economics of the truck & auto sales markets seems a bit squirrely — because of the Japan disasters in March, even U.S.-made trucks have slowed their production pace to either preserve parts or due to a lack of Japan contractor parts (I do hope you’ve been following the news here in Restyling and elsewhere).
Gas and diesel prices have fallen a bit — but why not more, after oil prices fell substantially?
Used-vehicle prices shot up as fewer new ones became available, and that means perhaps fewer sales all around (even major national dealers are downwardly revising their recent upward-trend forecasts).
But sales reported through April looked pretty good, and the outlook for post-summer 2011 and through 2012 have rosy cheeks.
So, with all that’s going on, are you aftermarket truck accessories retailers/installers keeping busy? Are you worried? What say you?
