Even if your customers are not looking for “HID styling” in their headlights, you might suggest that they upgrade their headlight bulbs. Encouraging drivers to take advantage of advanced lighting technology not only increases accessory dealers’ profits, but ultimately helps drivers be safer on the road.

Upgrading automobile lighting is one of the most underperformed vehicle maintenance tasks, because many drivers do not even consider replacing headlight bulbs until they fail. But as a bulb ages, the light output is drastically reduced by humidity, electrical resistance and filament fatigue. As a result, auto accessory dealers should encourage customers to replace their light bulbs regularly to ensure maximum performance.

Proper lighting is also essential for safe night driving. In spite of the fact that there are five times as many motorists during the day, statistics indicate that one-third of all accidents and roughly half of all traffic fatalities occur at night. Since a driver’s visual acuity is reduced by up to 70% at night and the human eye is not adapted for nocturnal vision, drivers must take steps to improve their vision on the road.
