Our hottest diesel/truck performance product is…

…our ATS-built 68RFE transmission package for the 2007.5-’12 Dodge trucks. The truck has tremendous low-end torque and has proven itself to over 1,000 rwhp. The challenge has been addressing the inherent weak points in the 68RFE and making it reliable at 600, 800 or even 1,000 hp.

Our 68RFE package comes with our Five Star converter-with patented square tabs, modified clutches and other internals-as well as options for a billet flexplate, billet input shaft, deep pan and our Co-Pilot transmission controller.

Its best features include…

…unlike other transmissions that could reliably hold power with one or several modifications, the 68RFE requires extensive modifications from the flexplate to the overdrive section. Fixing the hard part weaknesses is easy-it is the electronic controls that have challenged the industry.

The Co-Pilot transmission controller available in our 68RFE packages is built around increasing transmission life and performance. This is done by controlling line pressure, bypassing the low sprag in high-torque situations and controlling clutch timing. With these features, we can enhance shift characteristics, increase clutch life and provide better acceleration.

The biggest issue facing the market from a shop/retailer standpoint is…

…offering products that fit within the framework of federal and state emission guidelines, while also meeting the needs of today’s truck buyer. This challenge is forcing the industry to think outside the box and address old problems with new solutions and innovations. What this means is quality products and services that protect the environment and ensure it for future generations, while still helping customers use their trucks efficiently.

Shops can immediately begin making more money in the diesel/truck performance market by…

…focusing on the customer. Word of mouth and repeat business will always trump any other facet of a sales strategy. Take care of the customer and they will take care of you.

Our hottest diesel/truck performance product is…

…our Rugged Ridge Modular XHD Snorkel for the 2007-’11 Jeep JK Wrangler is currently one of our hottest products. We just introduced a version for the 2012-’13 Jeep JK Wrangler at SEMA.

Its best features include…

…there are two very distinctive features for this snorkel. With its modular design, Jeep owners can buy one product where they can change between a low-mount or high-mount snorkel, so their Jeep is always best set-up in any given driving situation.

A second feature is that this snorkel helps increase fuel mileage by 1 to 2 mpg, which we are hearing from our end-users.

An encouraging trend for shops in the diesel/truck performance market is…

…a great trend we’ve seen is that more truck companies realize that the Jeep and off-road aftermarket is a great additional segment that they may have not focused on in recent years. The Jeep and off-road aftermarket continues to stay strong, even during the recent economic downturn.

The biggest issue facing the market from a shop/retailer standpoint is…

…any legislation that makes it harder for the enthusiast to customize and enjoy their vehicle is a threat. Among current issues are the suspension lift kits, public land closing issues, etc.

Shops can immediately begin making more money in the diesel/truck performance market by…

…diversifying from just truck performance to niches like Jeep, where the enthusiast continues to spend money. This is also a market where we have seen growth in the units sold at the dealerships.
