Powering Ahead

Jan 14, 2013

As we race into the new year, few markets have their foot on the gas quite like the drag racing market.

Building on a successful 2012 that for the most part saw the weather cooperate and car counts rise or at least stay consistent, racers and speed shops are optimistic that this season will bring added success and excitement that those in the industry crave.

That means more engine builds, more refreshes and more product sales to competitors looking for championships or at least personal bests.

To take advantage, now is the time for retailers and builders to study up on the latest technology, new components and even rule changes that can give them a head start on the season. After all, knowledge and information are a shop’s main strengths when it comes to dealing with local drag racers.

To help get things started, we checked in with several parts manufacturers to learn more about the hot new products, technological advancements and reasons for optimism waiting at the starting lights of another drag racing season.

The biggest issue facing the drag racing market from a shop/retailer standpoint is…

…having what the customers need in stock. When a racer comes into a shop, they know what they want and they are ready to purchase it. When they can only get some of what they need and the rest is on back-order they end up going someplace else.

…continue to grow. That is what we are working on in the performance market.

We have developed a product line that makes plumbing easier, faster and most of all safer. What could be better than that?

Speed shops and retailers should be excited about the coming drag racing season because…

…the performance market appears to be making a comeback, though it might not be as big and as fast as most of us would like. Drag racing is something that just about everyone can do. You can take your street car to the track and have fun or you can haul your big rig and unload.

The market is starting to come back and for us that is an exciting thing to look forward to in 2013.
