Petersen Automotive Museum to Celebrate the Corvette’s 60th Anniversary

Oct 29, 2012

The Petersen Automotive Museum will celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Chevy Corvette with a number of special events and exhibits beginning next February and running throughout 2013.

The weekend of March 1-2, the museum will host seminars, a panel discussion, a car show and a gala in honor of the Corvette’s 60th anniversary.

The museum will also present a Corvette exhibit Feb. 27-March 31, featuring 20 historic Corvettes from all generations and Corvette concept cars.

“The Corvette’s status transcends automotive culture, said Buddy Pepp former executive director of the Petersen Automotive Museum, in a statement released by the museum. “It is instantly recognizable worldwide as an American icon.”

A dinner and cocktail hour will start the celebration on March 1. Included in the evening’s festivities will be a memorabilia auction and a panel discussion with special guests from the Corvette’s past.

On March 2, the Petersen will fill its 500-car parking structure with Corvettes of all eras for the Corvette Day car show.

Proceeds from activities will support the Petersen Automotive Museum’s educational programming.
