Manny, Moe and Jack, the mascots of automotive aftermarket retail chain Pep Boys, rang the bell at the New York Stock Exchange on Aug. 1 to celebrate the company’s 90th anniversary.
It was the mascots’ latest stop on a tour across the country to celebrate the anniversary.
In conjunction with the anniversary celebration, the company is launching a nationwide search to find vintage Pep Boys memorabilia and artifacts. Items that are found during this search will eventually be permanently displayed at Pep Boys’ corporate archives in Philadelphia.
“We believe that Manny, Moe & Jack are the heart of the brand—they are the icons that differentiate us from the competition and their legacy lives on,” said Mike Odell, Pep Boys’ president and CEO, in a statement released by the company. “In the past 90 years, Pep Boys was witness to many of the greatest American achievements. Through a mixture of hard work and good luck, we’ve had great fortune over the last 90 years and are proud to be considered an American institution. We look forward to what the next nine decades hold for the company and for America.”
