Petersen Auto Museum Executive Director Dick Messer to Retire

Petersen Automotive Museum Executive Director Richard (Dick) Messer has announced his retirement. Commenting on his decision, Messer said, “As I approach 70, and having given a total of 12 years of full-time attention to the Museum, it’s time for me to relax a bit and focus on other matters.” The museum named Buddy Pepp-founding member of the museum’s Checkered Flag 200 Executive Committee-as Messer’s replacement as executive director.

Race Ramps Moves to a Larger Facility

Race Ramps has announced that it recently relocated to a larger facility in Escanaba, Michigan.

Race Ramps President, Richard Heinz, said the company’s sales volume has tripled over the last three years, spurring the need for a larger facility.

“The increase in demand pushed our manufacturing capacity to its limit,” said Heinz. “Because of the confines of our building there was no room to expand production. Therefore, we decided to a move to a larger facility that provides us with three times the manufacturing space of our old building.”

Dave McClelland & Tom McKernan Join NHRA Motorsports Museum’s Board of Directors

Tom McKernan, CEO of Automobile Club of Southern California, and legendary voice of NHRA Dave McClelland have been named to the board of directors of the Wally Parks NHRA Motorsports Museum.

“These two iconic names in the sport of NHRA Drag Racing will bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in driving the mission of the museum, as set forth by our founder Wally Parks, to celebrate the impact of motorsports on our culture,” said Alex Xydias, chairman of the seven-person board.

HRIA to Hold Open Meeting in Columbus, Ohio

The Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) will hold an open meeting Thursday July 8, 2010 from 3-4:30pm in advance of the Goodguys 13th Annual PPG Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. The meeting will be held inside the Ohio Building at the Ohio Expo Center. Guest speakers include Ethan Landsman from the SEMA Action Network, Bob Knechel with the Collectors Foundation and a guest from Championship Auto Shows. Landsman will also be on hand for the first-ever Collector Car Appreciation Day celebration Friday, July 9th and will present a resolution to honor the day to HRIA Chair Dennis Overholser.
