I spent one day at the recent IMIS (International Motorsports Industry Show) in Indianapolis, and the verdict is a resounding “wow.”
The IMIS event involved three days in total at the Indianapolis Convention Center. Seminars were held Dec. 1, with the show itself on Dec. 2 and 3. Approximately 340 exhibitors filled the show’s inaugural event, and attendee traffic was heavy.
Everyone I spoke with said that they were very happy with the turnout, and the exhibitors that I spoke with said that they were very happy with the coordination of the show and the manner in which the IMIS staff treated everyone.
The exhibitor list was what I expected…all hardcore racing parts and equipment, with no non-racing trivial stuff to distract your attention. I suspect that once word gets out, next year’s show will be even bigger.
According to IMIS, the show is currently commited to the Indy site through at least 2015.
The IMIS staff deserves a pat on the back. Great show.
