Memorial Day Weekend Car Shows & Events

This long weekend is a time to honor those who died in military service and marks the unofficial start of summer. This weekend you can check out stellar rides, show off your latest projects, connect with potential customers and support local organizations by spending the day at a car show. Here are 10 events that are happening around the country this weekend. Additional shows will be posted to HRR‘s Twitter throughout the week.

The NSRA’s Mid-American Street Rod Nationals Plus takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds in Springfield, Missouri. The event will feature a swap meet, commercial exhibits, a model car show, NSRA safety inspections, tech seminars, special vehicle displays, entertainment, drawings and an awards presentation. The 29th Lone Star Classic Chevy Convention takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Sheraton Grand DFW Airport Hotel in Irving, Texas. Billed as the biggest Tri-Five Chevy show in Texas, the event will feature drag races, a show-and-shine, a swap meet, tours of the Dallas Cowboys Stadium and Texas Motor Speedway, an Indy 500 watching party, a poker run, and a drive-in movie screening of “American Graffiti.” For more information, visit www.lonestarchevys.com.

The Elvis Presley Car Show at Graceland takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Memphis, Tennessee. The three-day event will feature hundreds of classic and contemporary cars and motorcycles. In addition to the car show, there will also be free live entertainment, food and additional ticketed events, including Saturday night’s Rockin’ Rods Dance Party & Nighttime Graceland Tour. The King of Trucks All Truck Supershow takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse, New York. The event is open to all years, styles and sizes of trucks, and will feature a show-and-shine field, off-road playground, mud bog, truck pulls and drags, mobile dyno, tug-o-war, vendors and a swap meet. The Springfield Swap Meet & Car Show takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ohio. The event covers 126 acres and will feature 4,000 vendor spaces and a car corral. Show-and-shine car shows will be held Saturday and Sunday. Future events will take place in September and November. The 23rd Annual Lane Automotive Cruise-In & Car Show takes place Friday and Saturday in Watervliet, Michigan. The event kicks off Friday night with the 5-mile Open Header Cruise and Lane Dyno Challenge. Saturday’s car show is expected to draw over 1,000 hot rods, race cars, muscle cars and modified trucks, according to event organizers. Visitors can also tour the Lane showroom, check out the Manufacturers Marketplace, the Nitro Noisefest and the Hot Rodders of Tomorrow Engine Builders Challenge. The Kimberly-Clark Lexington Mill is sponsoring the 3rdAnnual United Cruise Saturday in Linwood, North Carolina. The cruise will leave the mill at 9:30 a.m. and travel approximately 40 miles through Davidson County to Finch Park for a car show. Awards will be presented at the show in six classes-Pre-1955, Muscle Car, Late Model, Modern and Motorcycle. The car show will also feature a DJ, 50/50 raffle, and food. The 5th Annual Showboat City Rumble takes place Saturday at Cole Park in Chesaning, Michigan. The event is open to all makes and models of vehicles, but pre-1969 hot rods and customs will get special parking. The show will also feature games, contests, raffles, a swap meet, pinstripers, a town-wide garage sale, vendors, concessions and live entertainment. For more information, click here.

The Second Annual Veterans Memorial Car Show takes place Sunday at Lime Rock Park in Lakeville, Connecticut. The event, which is a joint venture between Lime Rock Park and Royals’ Garage, is open to muscle car, tuners, imports, street rods, motorcycles, classic cars and trucks, race cars and exceptional contemporary vehicles. Four trophies will be presented at the car show-The People’s Pick, Royals’ Crown, Skip’s Selection and Veterans Vote. Proceeds from the car show will benefit the Veterans Memorial Wall at the refurbished Torrington, Connecticut, city hall.The show is part of Lime Rock’s traditional opener, the Grand-Am Memorial Day Classic race weekend, which features the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge races on Saturday and the Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype & GT race on Monday. The 21st Anniversary San Diego Cool Car Truck Cycle Expo takes place Monday at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego. The event will feature hundreds of classic, collectible, tuner, low-rider, custom, high-performance and racing vehicles in a show-and-sell area, all vying for dozens of trophies and prizes.
