Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

A number of car shows and events are being held this holiday weekend to give you the opportunity to show off your shop’s best work and network with potential customers, including the Cavalcade of Customs and Mesquite Motor Mania 2012. The Cavalcade of Customs takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the Duke Energy Convention Center in Cincinnati. Over $14,000 in cash and merchandise will be presented at the event in 20 categories, including Outstanding Custom Rod, Outstanding Restored, Outstanding Truck and Outstanding Display. The show will also feature special vehicle displays, Meguiar’s Car Care Tips, the Pinstripers “Art of the Kool Charity Auction” benefiting Shriners Hospitals for Children and celebrity appearances. Mesquite Motor Mania 2012 takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Mesquite, Nevada. The event is open to all years, makes and models of classic vehicles, and will feature show-and-shine competitions, roaring engine competitions, slow drags and burn-out competitions. The Winter Wheels Indoor Car & Bike Show takes place Friday and Saturday at the Southaven Arena in Southaven, Mississippi. The event will feature awards presentations, special vehicle displays, vendors and live entertainment. For more information, visit www.cruzinsouth.com.

Festivities for the week-long 41st Annual Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction begin Saturday in Scottsdale, Arizona. A seven-mile Road Rally will run through the streets of Scottsdale during the day Saturday, followed by Barrett-Jackson Night and the Drive the Dream charity gala in the evening. The Tennessee Motorama takes place Saturday and Sunday at the MID-TN Expo Center in Murfreesboro, Tennessee. The show is open to pre-1972 hit rods, customs, rat rods, street rods, antiques, muscle cars and motorcycles. Awards will be presented to the top 25 vehicles. The Best of Show will be crowned Grand Champion and will receive $500 plus a trophy. The event will also feature vendors, a swap meet area, and an antique vehicle and memorabilia auction. The Phoenix Classic & Exotic Car Auction takes place Saturday and Sunday at Dealers Auto Auction of the Southwest in Phoenix. The indoor auction will feature more than 300 vehicles up for bid. For more information, visit www.motoexotica.com/classic-car-auction.

The 25th Annual Burger Run takes place Saturday at the Pepper Tree Frosty in Vista, California. The event is open to pre-1972 vehicles, and all entrants will get a T-shirt and dash plaque. For more information, visit www.burgerrun.info.

George Cross & Sons presents The Pomona Swap Meet and Car Show Sunday from 5 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Pomona, California. The event will feature thousands of vehicles for show and/or sale and thousands of auto parts and related items. There will also be concession stands located throughout the event selling a wide variety of food and beverages. General admission is $8, with children 12 and under admitted free. Any year Corvette or Porsche, pre-1975 Volkswagens, pre-1957 street rods and pre-1975 collector cars will be admitted for $25. Any 1931 or older stock motorcar will be admitted for free.
