Keyless ignitions – are they the next potential big safety concern?

Mar 2, 2011

Keyless ignitions have become more prevalent in vehicles (now, more than 160 models).

But as incidents have occurred that include deaths from carbon monoxide poisoning due to people having failed to shut off the engine after parking their vehicle in their garage, will you continue to install these as aftermarket items?

Have you been informed about how best to prompt/teach/remind/prepare new owners of keyless ignitions on how to train themselves to be sure they shut off their engines when parking their cars?

Since there is no key to physically remove, what happens if their key fob that comes with the kit fails to alert them that the engine (especially the newer quiet ones) is turned off?
