The annual Education & Training Day, presented by SEMA’s Hot Rod Industry Alliance (HRIA) council, will offer show attendees a full day of free educational workshops and seminars, which are divided into eight one-hour time slots. All of the seminars will be held inside of Lucas Oil Stadium.
“HRIA and Hotrod & Restoration will once again team up to provide show attendees with an unparalleled, free learning experience,” said Zane Clark, SEMA council director. “This day offers attendees access to 40 of the industry’s leading manufacturers as they highlight best practices and new products that will help increase business.”
This year will feature many returning presenters, including Eaton Detroit Spring, which will be presenting its popular “Ask the Spring Guru” workshop and offering attendees a chance to get the solutions to some of their toughest leaf and coil spring problems from the company’s spring experts.
This year’s seminar agenda also features several manufacturers that will be presenting workshops for the first time, including Inland Empire Driveline Service. The company will be presenting “Powertrain Set Up: What Works,” in which attendees will learn how to work around four types of built-in vibration using correct powertrain geometry and driveshaft design. The seminar will also feature real-world examples and a question and answer session.
“You can’t beat free education and networking,” said Glenn See, owner of The Garaj Mahal in Greenback, Tennessee, who has attended the show for the last five years. “I like the training sessions and really enjoy seeing the new products that are available to help my shop stay current.”
Several new activities have planned for the Education & Training Day lunch break, from 11:30 a.m.-12:15 p.m., including a special speech by Forrest Lucas, president and CEO of Lucas Oil Products, which will take place on Lucas Oil Plaza.
“Having Forrest Lucas speak at our event is a true honor,” said Travis Weeks, publisher and producer of Hotrod & Restoration. “Our attendees include some of the industry’s top builders and restorers and they are really looking forward to hearing someone as successful as Forrest Lucas speak.”
A raffle will also be held during the lunch break and attendees will have the opportunity to win a variety of gift certificates donated by the exhibiting manufacturers. Additional manufacturer gift certificate raffles will be held at 9:05 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. at the HRIA table in the seminar area.
“Attendees will leave Education Day equipped with the know-how to get the job done and be exposed to a community of professionals that will prove to be an invaluable resource,” said Clark.
