Higher new- and used-car and gas prices: Will they help or hinder aftermarket installers?

Apr 1, 2011

Rising fuel prices and the Japan disasters have quickly altered the automotive market landscape.

Some vehicles will be harder to find and parts for most vehicles (domestic and foreign) are getting sparse, and will be so for the next few months — the prime buying season.

Toyota announced at the end of March that it would increase the retail prices of most of its Toyota, Lexus and Scion vehicles.

GM and other carmakers already have decreased the incentives on new car purchases.

Used-car prices are rising, as fewer new cars are available.

The question is, do you think this will positively or adversely affect aftermarket sales and installations for our aftermarket restylers?
