Suppliers, car clubs and community organizations around the country are hosting car shows and events this Halloween weekend that give retailers the opportunity to show off projects, connect with new customers and support great causes. Goodguys’ 17th Southeastern Nationals takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Charlotte, North Carolina. The outdoor car show and vintage drag racing event will feature over 2,000 rods, customs, classic street machines, muscle cars and trucks though model year 1972. The event will also include vendor and manufacturer exhibits, hot rod seminars, the Goodguys Street Challenge AutoCross, a swap meet and cars-for-sale corral, a model and pedal car show, special track cruises and NASAR rides. Special awards presented at the Southeastern Nationals will be the 2011 Truck of the Year Late Finalist, 2011 Muscle Car of the Year Finalist, 2011 Kustom of the Year Finalist, 2011 Muscle Machine of the Year Finalist, Street Rodder Top 100 Event, PPG Dream Car, Tucker’s Builder’s Choice Awards and Classic Trucks Finest 5. Detroit Speed Inc. is hosting an open house on Friday evening at its Mooresville, North Carolina, headquarters. The fifth-annual event, which follows the Goodguys’ Southeastern Nationals, will feature car displays, barbecue, music and more. Detroit Speed will also be offering a 5-percent discount to people who pre-order parts before the open house or at the Southeastern Nationals, and the company will also cover the sales tax. The Santa Barbara Concours d’ Elegance takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday in Carpinteria, California. The event kicks off Friday with the Mille Miglia Salute Road Rally, which starts at the Santa Barbara Polo and Racquet Club and will tour through historical downtown Santa Barbara before winding through the Santa Ynez Mountain range and into the picturesque vineyards. Saturday features the Italiano Classics Auto Show and American Classic Auto Show, as well as vendor areas. The final event in Sacramento Vintage Ford’s 12th Annual Vintage Fridays 2010 takes place Friday in Rancho Cordova, California. All pre-1973 U.S. makes and models are welcome to the event, which features barbecue, door prizes, a 50/50 raffle, trivia, oldies music, and other contests and games. The Fourth Annual Tucson Cops and Rodders Car, Truck & Motorcycle Show takes place Saturday in Tucson, Arizona.
