Goodguys Event Will Raise Money for Nashville Flood Relief

May 17, 2010

Goodguys will partner with Hands on Nashville during the Goodguys 5th Bridgestone Nationals to help raise funds for the victims of the Nashville floods.

The event, which begins Friday, May 21 and will run through Sunday, May 23 in Nashville, is now not only a weekend to celebrate rods and customs, but a rallying point for flood relief efforts for the city.

The event’s title sponsor Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations (BATO), a subsidiary of Bridgestone Americas, Inc. is headquartered in Nashville. Bridgestone Americas, Inc. and its parent company, Bridgestone Corporation, recently donated $100,000 to several Middle Tennessee Red Cross chapters.

“Our teammates truly sympathize with the tragedy suffered in the Middle Tennessee region,” said Rod Stotsenburg, Performance Marketing and Events Manager for BATO. “We are fully committed to helping Nashville and the surrounding areas recover from the recent flooding. “We encourage everyone to come out to the event to enjoy a great car show but also to support those in need.”

In addition to the acres of hot rods that will be on display for viewing, fans will have a multitude of activities to enjoy, including live entertainment. The event will also have children’s activities, including the “Make and Take” model car exhibit at which youngsters can assemble a complete snap-together model kit to take home courtesy of Revell. Flood relief donation kiosks will be set up at the ticket gates at next week’s 5th Bridgestone Nationals at LP Field.

Goodguys has also announced that hot rod legend Norm Grabowski will be attending the weekend-long event, and will be available for meet-and-greets at the Goodguys semi truck.

The floods not only took its toll on the community but hot rodders as well. Steve and Sheri Tracy reported that their Advanced Plating facility sustained flood damage. As a result they have organized a large “Flood Sale” at Advanced Plating May 20-22, in which the company will sell everything from their parts line that was submerged under water. This includes intakes, valve covers, air cleaners, carburetors and virtually anything that can be found in their online store. For more information on the sale visit
