Long Beach, Calif.-based SnugTop was recently invited by General Motors to exhibit its SnugPro CHU Topper at the Texas State Fair in Dallas. A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado equipped with the new “cab-high” utility cap was on display in the “Work Ready” pickup exhibit.
“General Motors went to SnugTop commercial website, reviewed the SnugTop commercial products and felt SnugTop had the aerodynamics they were looking for in helping them present their new 2014 Silverado,” said Dennis Bowe, SnugTop national commercial sales manager.
The SnugPro CHU Topper is constructed from Advanced Structural Composites (ASC), making it half the weight of a steel cap, according to Snugtop. The topper’s cab-high design and flush mount ASC side access doors are aerodynamically efficient and contribute to improved fuel economy, according to the company.
The SnugPro CHU Topper features a unique oversized double rear door that’s split by a 40-60 ratio on the driver side and passenger side. The doors come with stainless steel hinges and a folding T-handle lock, and can be equipped with security-screened windows, according to Snugtop.
“The double rear doors that come with stainless steel hinges and folding ‘T’ handles are the answer for a cab-high design that customers are looking for when it comes for loading commercial materials from the rear of their pickup trucks,” Bowe said. “Most commercial cab- high toppers have a hatch back lift up door rear or a single rear door.”
Additional options for the topper include front window, racks and shelving, rear door, interior light, tool boxes, back-up camera and back-up alarm. SnugPro CHU Toppers are painted with the DuPont ChromaPremiere System and are available in OEM truck colors.
