This weekend, retailers and community organizations are among those hosting car shows and events that offer shops the opportunity to show off builds, meet new customers and support great causes. The Holley NHRA National Hot Rod Reunion takes place Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green, Kentucky. The event will feature a show-and-shine, racing, a cacklefest, awards presentation, parade, memorial, swap meet and vendors. The 47th Annual L.A. Roadsters Show & Swap takes place Saturday and Sunday at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. Roadsters and pre-1975 classics, hot rods and special interest vehicles will have special parking. The event will feature over 200 manufacturers and vendors of reproduction hot rod parts and accessories. The show will also feature a cacklefest on Saturday. For more information, click here.
The 34th Annual Springs Spree and Springs Spree Custom Motorsports Show takes place Saturday and Sunday at Memorial Park in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The show is open to all domestic- and foreign-built 1937-and-older vehicles, including hot rods, customs, classics, muscle cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles. Vehicles will be judged in eight categories-Display, Outstanding, Best, Sweepstakes, Memorial, Excellence, Springs Spree and Most Beautiful-and 59 awards will be presented. The 10th Annual Steamboat Car Show & Shine 2011 takes place Saturday in Winona, Minnesota. Part of the annual Winona Steamboat Days celebration, the car show is open to customs, rods, rats, muscles and classics. The Annapolis Valley Dad’s Day Show & Shine takes place Saturday in Middleton, Nova Scotia, Canada. The event will showcase antique, classic and special interest vehicles, and motorcycles, competing for awards in 16 classes. A dinner and dance will take place Saturday night, and participants can join the cruise to Bridgewater Sunday morning to attend that city’s Father’s Day car show. For more information, click here.
Auto Angels 5th Annual Benefit Car Show takes place Saturday at the First Presbyterian Church of Bellevue in Bellevue, Washington. All car, truck and motorcycle makes are welcomed at the show, which will also feature a barbecue and the opportunity for attendees to have their picture taken with a life-size replica of Mater, the tow truck from the movies “Cars” and “Cars 2.” The show will raise funds for the Auto Angels Ministry, a group that provides transportation to needy families and individuals through car care clinics and the placement of donated vehicles. Clean Cut Creations hosts the second screening in its Drive In Movie & Car Cruise Series on Saturday in Webster Groves, Missouri. “The Blues Brothers” will be shown at dark. Prior to the screening, concessions will be sold, there will be a 50/50 drawings and kids’ activities. There will also be a car cruise and special drive-in parking for 1972-and-earlier vehicles, as well as specialty and collector vehicles outside of that year range. Walk-in moviegoers can bring blankets and lawn chairs. Clean Cut Creations will be collecting clothing, food, pet supplies and personal care items for Joplin Tornado Relief. The Cars Are the Stars 2011 show takes place Saturday at the Pleasant View Café and Golf Facility in Somers, Connecticut. A total of 25 Best of Show trophies will be presented. The event will feature a DJ, vendors, concessions, prizes and goody bags. Proceeds will benefit The Gene Pitney Commemorative Committee Fund, an organization whose mission includes funding an annual scholarship program for local graduating seniors who will study music in college. The Wisconsin Auto Museum is celebrating its 25th anniversary with the Wisconsin Built Car & Truck Show Saturday in Hartford, Wisconsin. The Wisconsin Auto Museum features about 125 cars, with a special focus on the Kissel, Nash and AMC models made in Wisconsin. It also houses major collections on model cars and trains, automobilia, garage collectibles, Kissel outboard motors, automotive signs and Kissel historical items.
