Once again, Dunlop, Jean Pierre Kraemer and Walkenhorst Motorsport called on the passion of motorsports fans to choose a livery for the Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3 racecar.
More than 77,000 fans participated in this year’s design selection for the Dunlop Art Car 2017, according to the company.
From the three final designs created by renowned artist Jean Pierre Kraemer, a clear majority (over 44,000 votes) chose Crystal Flake.
“The chosen design is very impactful and will be very noticeable in the field,” said Kraemer. “The design is modeled on the past two years, with a lot of shadow-play and many individual polygonal figures that break up. Thus, the viewer has the impression that the structure is not quite smooth and the design looks like a crystal.”
The contest continues a long tradition of Dunlop Art Cars to hit the track, including the Le Mans Ferrari and Aston Martins of 2009-’13.
The premiere of the Dunlop BMW M6 GT3 Art Car with the Walkenhorst Motorsport team will be at the first round of the VLN Endurance Championship March 25 at the Nürburgring.
In addition to the Walkenhorst BMW M6 GT3, Kraemer and Dunlop will also design a Dunlop Art bike for the first time this year. The new Suzuki GSX-R 1000 will be used in all races of the GSX-R Cup taking place in the IDM German Superbike Series.
