Events Being Held Across the Country Friday for Collector Car Appreciation Day

In May, the United States Senate passed Senate Resolution 513 at the request of SEMA and ARMO, designating Friday, July 9, 2010, as Collector Car Appreciation Day. American Collectors Insurance and Hemmings Motor News are partnering to celebrate National Collector Car Appreciation Day at the insurance provider’s headquarters, 496 Kings Highway North, Cherry Hill, New Jersey. The event will feature classic cars, food, music, giveaways, and American Collectors Insurance VIPs and auto experts.

Arnold’s Fabulous Fifties Drive-In will host a Collector Car Appreciation Day Cruise Night Friday at 222 North 13th Street (Hwy. 27), Decatur, Indiana. The drive-in will be offering door prizes and food/drink specials to celebrate the day.

The Chilly Bombers‘ regular Friday night cruise-in will be spiced up in celebration of National Collector Car Appreciation Day. Held at 4917 W Bell Rd., Glendale, Arizona, the cruise-in will feature the newest pace car from PIR and a race cart from F1 Race Factory. PIR will be drawing for a pair of tickets to the Kobalt 500 this fall and there will be other giveaways.

A giant cruise-in is taking place Friday night at Chuy’s, 1397 E. Los Angeles Ave., Simi Valley, California. The event will feature live music, vendors, raffles and a 20-percent discount on food.

Clean Cut Creations is hosting an open house and customer appreciation day in honor of Collector Car Appreciation Day on Saturday afternoon at 950 Des Peres Ave., Webster Groves, Missouri. Enthusiasts are invited to bring their classic cars, take a tour of the shop, have lunch, and enjoy treats from St. Louis Snow Cone and Austin’s Funnel Cake Bites.

Egge Machine and Speed Shop is inviting collectors to come by its headquarters, 11707 Slauson Ave., Santa Fe Springs, California, on Friday to get pictures taken of their cars between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. If you can’t make it to Santa Fe Springs, the company is inviting collectors to post a photo or video of their car on its Facebook page before Friday. The owners of the five cars with the most comments will win a $100 Egge gift certificate.

The Eighth Annual Northwest Motorfest kicks off Friday night with Northwest Motorfest Collector Car Appreciation Day. All attendees on Friday night will receive an official proclamation signed by Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter. Northwest Motorfest takes place Friday, Saturday and Sunday at EXPO IDAHO, 5610 Glenwood, Boise, Idaho.

The Goodguys Rod & Custom Association’s 13th PPG Nationals will feature a special ceremony Friday where Ethan Landsman of the SEMA Action Network will present a copy of the Collector Car Appreciation resolution to Dennis Overholser of the HRIA. The 13th PPG Nationals, presented by Bridgestone, runs Friday through Sunday at the Ohio Expo Center 717 E. 17th Ave., Columbus, Ohio.

The National Automobile Museum, The Harrah Collection, is celebrating National Collector Car Day throughout Friday with two-for-one admission, a car club show-and-shine, costumed characters, special presentations and more. The museum is located at 10 S. Lake St., Reno, Nevada.

Steele Rubber Products is celebrating National Collector Car Appreciation Day with an employee car show and is inviting customers to drive down to its headquarters, 6180 E. NC 150 Hwy., Denver, North Carolina. Any customer that drives to the facility in a classic car or purchases from Steele Rubber’s counter on Friday will receive a free National Collector Car Appreciation T-shirt celebrating the day while supplies last.

Throughout the day, Meguiar’s is encouraging hobbyists to come together and take part in a nationwide “automotive handshake” by turning on your headlights and blinking them when you see another collector car on Friday.
