“El Nomado” is a 1958 Chevrolet El Camino-meets-Nomad-inspired custom phantom car designed and built by Joe Cherry and a winner of the Royal Purple “Show It Off at SEMA” contest.

The engine is a 1959 second-generation 348-ci with the coolant ports along the spark plugs in the heads to resolve the earlier overheating problems. Bored 0.30 over, it features three Rochester-matched two-barrels and a progressive linkage.

Participants include MSD (electronic ignition with a blaster coil), Mooneyes (valve covers, air cleaners), Griffin (four-core radiator with custom overflow tank), Foose (pulley system), Vintage Air (air conditioning), Summit (vacuum can), Hurst (shifter), Air Ride Technologies (suspension), Boyd Coddington (Crown Jewel 18-inch wheels), Cooper (Zeon tires), PPG (paint),  Ididit (chrome steering column) and Pioneer (sound system).
