Easter Weekend Car Shows & Events Roundup

A number of car shows and events are being held this Easter Weekend to give shops a chance to show off their best work, connect with new customers and support local organizations.  Details on six such events, including the Viva Las Vegas Car Show, are listed below.

The 16th Annual Viva Las Vegas Rockabilly Weekender and Car Show takes place Thursday, March 28-Sunday, March 31 at the Orleans Hotel in Las Vegas. The car show will be held on Saturday in the hotel’s parking lot and is open to only registered pre-1963 vehicles.  Dubbed “the biggest rockabilly party in the world,” the event will feature four days of live bands, swing dancing lessons, vendors and more. The DFW Grand Prairie Swap Meet will be held Friday, March 29- Sunday, March 31 at Lonestar Park in Grand Prairie, Texas. The swap meet will feature over 2,500 spaces filled with hundreds of collector cars and thousands of restoration parts, according to event promoters. Presented by Earheart Productions, the rain-or-shine event will  run from 8 a.m.- 5p.m. each day. For more information, go to www.earhartproductions.com.

The Frisco Easter Egg Hunt and Car Show takes place on Saturday, March 30 from 10 a.m.- 2 p.m. at Elevate Life Church in Frisco, Texas. The car show will feature 27 classes, with trophies awarded to the winners. It is open to all vehicles and motorcycles. The event, which will benefit Elevate Life Church’s Children’s Program, will also feature a DJ playing rock ‘n’ roll classics, free bounce houses for kids, food, contests and an Easter egg hunt featuring over 50,000 Easter eggs. The 29th Annual Nostalgic Indoor Invitational Auto Show will be held in Avanti’s Dome in Pekin, Illinois. The indoor car show is open to antiques, classics, motorcycles, classic trucks and customs. (Show vehicles by invitation only). The event will start at 7 a.m., with car show awards being given out at 3:30 p.m. Other event highlights will include an outdoor cars-for-sale corral, flea market and swap meet. The Cape Canaveral Region A.A.C.A. will present its annual Celebration of Cars on Saturday, March 30 at Burton Smith Park in Cocoa, Florida. The event will include a car show featuring classic and modern cars, activities for kids, food, a DJ playing oldies music, a car corral and vendors. Dash plaques and goodie bags will be given to the first 150 cars entered into the show. A portion of the proceeds raised by the event will be donated to the Central Brevard Humane Society and the SPCA of North Brevard. For more information, click here.

The Garden City Chamber of Commerce of Garden City, New York, will present the 58th annual Easter Sunday Vintage Car Parade on Sunday, March 31. The parade will feature authentic old motorcars (1898-1988), including antique, classic and special interest vehicles. The parade is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. from Parking Field 9E (on 10th Street and Franklin Avenue) to 7th Street, then head west to Hilton Avenue, where it will end. All registered cars will receive a commemorative dash plaque at the assembly check-in point. The organizers are asking for a $12 entry donation. For more information, click here.
