Alston Racing Acquired by Heidts Automotive Group

Oct 18, 2011

Heidts Automotive Group of Wauconda, Illinois, has announced its acquisition of Alston Racing, a manufacturer of racing components based in Antioch, Illinois.

“Adding Alston Racing to the Heidts Automotive family makes a great deal of sense for us when you look at the synergy between the two companies in terms of street rod and racing experience and product lineup, as well as expanding our market into drag racing” said Wallace Leyshon, Heidts’ owner and president.

“Adding Alston will allow us to provide a more extensive product offering to our current Heidts and newly added Alston dealers and customers while being able to take advantage of certain economies of scale with regards to materials.”

Alston Racing has been in business for more than 30 years. The company custom-builds race cars and is a supplier of race car parts, including chassis components and roll bars.

“Our focus will remain providing superior components to the race car market with the added advantage of Heidts’ engineering and manufacturing capabilities,” said Mike Ruth, who will remain on as Alston product manager. “Combined, Heidts and Alston are going to have a very broad product line, covering everything from traditional hot rods, muscle cars, roll cages and purpose-built race cars for their dealers and customers.”

This is Heidts second acquisition this year; the company acquired Kenny Brown Performance in May.
