Airdesign USA is gearing up to reveal its new 2016 Toyota Tacoma restyling kit at the upcoming SEMA Show. The company offers a similar kit recently released for the 2016 Chevy Colorado.

The kit requires no drilling and features a front bumper guard with daytime running lights.

“A unique thing with this bumper guard is its really going to give the customer’s truck a look similar to the Ford Raptor,” said Billy Longfellow, vice president of design and engineering for Airdesign USA, which is gearing up to open a new distribution facility in Southern California.

The Airdesign Tacoma kit also includes a vacuum-formed and over-moulded hood scoop, fender flares with moulded mud flaps, side-door mouldings, a vacuumed-formed tailgate applicate and rear wing, as well as Airdesign USA's Hexaliner, a custom floor liner with stainless steel footrest plate.

“This kit is for somebody who wants that themed look and a step up from just having flares,” Longfellow said. “The advantage of our kit is a customer can buy the whole kit or purchase one piece at a time and to create their own custom kit.”

With the kit hood scoop, Airdesign USA introduces its new over-moulding construction.

“As you look at the top of the hood scoop, where you have all the louvers, that over-moulding is an injected piece of urethane painted black. The hood scoop is vacuum formed with an Austrian Senoplast plastic,” Longfellow said. “This design maintains the shape of the plastic for strength, and then you have the detail of an injected part—getting the best of both worlds.”

The daytime running lights fixed to the bumper guard run during the day and turn off when the headlights are activated.

“This gives an off-road look without having to put steel bumpers on it,” said Longfellow, who also shared how the Tacoma kit’s no-drill fender flare system works.

“We use our proprietary “super bolt” on the flares,” he said. “Behind the flares where you see the stainless steel bolt, there’s a little rubber grommet that has double stick tape. With all the factory fasteners and the little grommets behind It, it makes that thing stick right to the side of the car.”

The 2016 Tacoma set to debut in Airdesign USA's booth (No. 12367) will include a number of additional upgrades, including a custom lift kit suspension by Rancho, a tonneau cover by Truck Covers USA, Cord P3 running boards; 18-inch black Fuel off-road wheels, Toyo’s all-terrain AT2 tires, and a custom interior by Roadwire.
